SC-FDE schemes (Single-Carrier with Frequency-Domain
Equalization) employing M-ary OQAM signals (Offset
Quadrature Amplitude Modulation). It is shown that the
interference between the in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q)
components at the sampling points can lead to severe
performance degradation. Therefore, receivers without
residual I-Q interference (IQI), as well as receivers with
IQI cancellation were developed. Our performance results
show that the new receivers are suitable to M-ary OQAM

Description: Abstract— Very-high-speed digital subscriber loop modems
operate in frequency bands, which coincide with many significant
radio-frequency interference sources, particularly commercial
AM radio. In these bands, the balance of most twisted-pair cables
is low enough to allow substantial interference to transfer to
differential mode, disrupting the transmitted information signal.
A novel wideband common-mode noise cancellation technique is
presented. Simulation results show that the common-mode noise
cancellation technique could provide 20- to 30-dB improvement
in those radio frequency bands. Construction and testing of a
hardware prototype are also presented. With finite-precision
effects, measured test results show that common-mode noise

Description: Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is a promising air-interface technology for its ability to support massive wireless mobile terminals. In this paper, the outage performance for
uplink NOMA systems employing the dynamic ordered successive
interference cancellation receiver is analyzed under the independent but not identically distributed (i.ni.d.) fading environment.
We theoretically reveal the general approach to derive the closedform outage probability expression for an arbitrary number of
serving users. Under the i.ni.d. fading environment, the probability
for each possible decoding order is derived respectively based on
the observation of the time-varying received power strength for
each user. Furthermore, encountering the challenge of solving the
multidimensional integration, a recursive method is proposed to
deal with the conditional outage probabilities under a certain
decoding order as a joint probability problem with the linear
constraints of the decoding order and the required data rate.
Finally, we derive the closed-form outage probability expressions.
The simulations are performed to validate the accuracy of the
theoretical results and reveal the superiority of the dynamic mode

Description: Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is a promising
technology to enhance the coverage and performance of wireless
networks. We consider the application of IRS to non-orthogonal
multiple access (NOMA), where a base station transmits superposed signals to multiple users by the virtue of an IRS. The
performance of an IRS-assisted NOMA networks with imperfect
successive interference cancellation (ipSIC) and perfect successive
interference cancellation (pSIC) is investigated by invoking 1-
bit coding scheme. In particular, we derive new exact and
asymptotic expressions for both outage probability and ergodic
rate of the m-th user with ipSIC/pSIC. Based on analytical
results, the diversity order of the m-th user with pSIC is in
connection with the number of reflecting elements and channel
ordering. The high signal-to-noise radio (SNR) slope of ergodic
rate for the m-th user is obtained. The throughput and energy
efficiency of IRS-NOMA networks are discussed both in delaylimited and delay-tolerant transmission modes. Additionally, we
derive new exact expressions of outage probability and ergodic
rate for IRS-assisted orthogonal multiple access (IRS-OMA).
Numerical results are presented to substantiate our analyses and
demonstrate that: i) The outage behaviors of IRS-NOMA are
superior to that of IRS-OMA and relaying schemes; ii) The M-th
user has a larger ergodic rate than IRS-OMA and benchmarks.
However, the ergodic performance of the m-th user exceeds
relaying schemes in the low SNR regime; and iii) The IRS-assisted
NOMA networks have ability to achieve the enhanced energy
